Johane Masowe (John of the wilderness) Chishanu (Holy Friday) is an Apostolic Church that follows and believes in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Johane Masowe Chishanu was established in the year 1931 in Zimbabwe(Gandanzara) and now has branches in many other countries like South Africa, Botswana, Namibia,the United Kingdom, etc. Our congregants are recognized by their white garments and gatherings in a open spaces for church services, although some apostles gather in halls or closed areas for services due to different national constitutions. We honor Holy Friday because it the day our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified on the Cross. The apostles worship on Friday and keep Holy beginning from 15:00 Thursday up to midnight on Friday.

Our mission is to provide appropriate, acceptable and satisfying spiritual services that promote the attainment of eternal life by members and interested through well mannered programmes that are guided by the HOLY SPIRIT and these include :

Providing sessions of Spiritual and Body healing

Imparting religious knowlegde through preaching

Encouraging self-reliance across the entire church members in pursuance of religious goal

Recruitment of members in accordance with the churh rules and regulations

Johane Masowe Chishanu is spiritual, vibrant as well as materially satisfying indigenous church in South Africa and its membership maintain high standards of discipline at all times

Johane is the name of the Angel(John the Baptist) who was sent in the year 1931 to teach us how to pray to God the Father.

Masowe / Place of worship

Is the wildernes a place where we gather to pray/worship. Sowe is a Chimanyika dailect of the shona language meaning an open space.

Chishanu / Holy Friday

Is the Holy Friday which is a day we focus on expressing gratitude to God in the name of God the Father, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Beginning from Thursday 15:00 till midnight on Friday.
